As chair of UNCF Board of Directors and co-chair of a bold, ambitious $1 billion capital campaign, I am thrilled to join UNCF President and CEO Dr. Michael L. Lomax to applaud the leadership of Lilly Endowment Inc. for an unprecedented $100 million unrestricted grant, which is a historic milestone for our capital campaign. Lilly’s generous gift stands as the largest single investment in our campaign, which has raised more than $500 million to date toward our $1 billion goal. UNCF will use the grant to help its 37 member institutions to increase their endowments, which will allow them to make investments that will enhance their ability to continue providing quality education to their students. I now call upon other corporate and philanthropic leaders to follow Lilly Endowment’s lead. Join UNCF and help us to achieve our $1 billion target.
