Every year, the Atlanta Business League recognizes its list of Atlanta’s Influential Black Men during an evening reception and induction ceremony honoring various business owners, professionals, community and civic leaders in the Metropolitan Atlanta area.
The list reflects the names of black men in metro Atlanta communities who have reached senior level positions within their profession, are leading entrepreneurs in their industry, have proven history-making feats or have attained the ability to influence large public bodies politically and in government. In addition to professional accomplishments, the “Men of Influence” have demonstrated their commitment to the citizenry of Metro Atlanta by maintaining significant involvement and participation in community and civic activities.
On Tuesday, July 24, Atlanta Business League recognized it 2018 Men of Influence honorees during its 12 Annual Men of Influence Reception and Induction Ceremony held at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta. Among Atlanta Business League’s 2018 Men of Influence honorees were:
Lecester “Bill” Allen, Dr. Mark Berry, Dr. Carlton Donald, Eugene Duffy, Jason F. Esteves, Todd Gray, Joseph Handy, Clyde Higgs, Maj. Gen. (Ret.) Ronald L. Johnson, Dr. Gavin Samms, Michael L. Smith, Michael Sullivan
In addition to the Men of Influence awards, former Atlanta Urban League President and CEO Lyndon A. Wade received The 2018 Legacy Award, recognizing a legend whose efforts, good deeds, and impact will outlast the test of time and positively impact the community for generations to come. Lyndon Wade was a trailblazer for human and civil rights, and one of Atlanta’s key leaders in the tumultuous days of school desegregation, according to the Atlanta Business League.
The event also featured two Legends Hall of Fame inductees. Atlanta Business League Chairman andFounding Member of Peachtree Providence Partners Milton Jones, Jr. presented the Induction for the 2018 Legends Hall Of Fame, recognizing pioneers who have paved the way for others to follow. Among its inductees were: Dr. Otis W. Brawley, Chief Medical & Scientific Officer and EVP at The American Cancer Society, and Dominique Wilkins, VP Basketball at the Atlanta Hawks.
Additional highlights included a riveting “Introduction of the Processional” by Quinnie Jenkins, Regional Leader of Community Affairs & Grassroots at Southwest Airlines, and a spirited “Purpose” led by Monica Richardson, Senior Managing Editor of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
